Summary In English
This story is about a donkey named Goopu. Goopu loves music and wants to become a musician. When he became old and couldnt able to carry the load, he decided to go to Mumbai to become musician. On the way, he met a dog, a cat and a cock. They all joined him. They all wanted to become musicians. On their way to Mumbai, they all became tired and hungry. They saw a house. They all started singing to tell the people in the house that they are singers. People got scared of their voices and ran away. Finally, they all ate the food calmly.

यह कहानी गूपू नामक एक गधे की है। गूपू को संगीत पसंद था और वह संगीतकार बनना चाहता था। जब वह बूढ़ा हो गया और बोझा ढोने में असमर्थ हो गया, तो उसने मुंबई जाकर संगीतकार बनने का निश्चय किया। रास्ते में उसे एक कुत्ता, एक बिल्ली तथा एक मुरगा मिला। सब उसके साथ हो लिए। सभी संगीतकार बनना चाहते थे। मुंबई जाने के रास्ते में वे काफी थक गए और उन्हें भूख लगने लगी। उन्होंने एक घर को देखा। सभी ने मिलकर गाना शुरू कर दिया। वे लोगों को यह बताना चाहते थे कि वे संगीतकार हैं। घर के लोग इनकी आवाज़ से भयभीत हो गए और भाग गए। अंत में उन्होंने शांतिपूर्वक खाना खाया।

Hindi Translation Of The Story
1. “Once upon a time, there lived a donkey
named Goopu”. He had worked for many
years in the house of a farmer. He had
carried many heavy sacks of corn and
sugarcane, from the farm to the factory.
He was now very tired and old.

एक समय की बात है। गूपू नामक एक गधा था।
उसने एक किसान के घर कई वर्षों तक काम किया
था। वह अनाज के कई भारी-भारी बोरे तथा गन्ने
के खेत से कारखाने ले जा चुका था। वह अब बहुत
थका हुआ और बूढा हो चुका था।

Word-Meanings : Donkey (डंकी) -a kind of animal, गधा। Farmer (फ़ार्मर) -one who works in the field, किसान। Sacks (सैक्स) -large bags, बोरे। Corn (कॉर्न) -grains, अनाज। Sugarcane (सुगरकेन) -a stem from which sugar is produced, गन्ना। Factory (फैक्टर) -a place where goods are manufactured, कारखाना।

2. The farmer said to Goopu, “You are a
good donkey. Take this sack of corn and
go and see the world, before you become too old.”

किसान ने गूपू से कहा, “तुम एक अच्छे गधे हो। यह
अनाज की बोरी लो और इससे पहले कि तुम और
बूढ़े हो जाओ, दुनिया देखकर आओ।”

Word-Meanings : World (वल्र्ड) -here outside place दुनिया।

3. Goopu smiled and said goodbye. He
went off towards the city of Mumbai.
“I am good at music. I will go to Mumbai
and be a musician there.”

गूपू मुस्कराया तथा ‘गुडबाइ’ बोलकर मुंबई शहर की
“तरफ निकल पड़ा। “मैं संगीत में अच्छा हूँ। मैं मुंबई
जाऊँगा तथा संगीतकार बन जाऊँगा।”

Word-Meanings : Set off (सेट ऑफ़) -(here), went रवाना हुआ। Musician (म्यूजीशियन) -a person who composes music, संगीतकार।

4. On the way he met a dog.
Where are you going, asked Doopu.
I am going to Mumbai to be a musician,
Would you like to come too? asked
Goopu.
“Yes, I would,” replied Doopu.

रास्ते में उसे एककुत्ता मिला। “तुम कहाँ जा रहे
हो?” डूपू ने पूछा।
“मैं संगीतकार बनने मुंबई जा रहा हूँ। क्या तुम भी
आना चाहोगे?” ड्रपू ने पूछा। “हाँ, मैं चलूंगा।” गूपू
ने जवाब दिया।

5. Off went the two friends on the dusty
road to Mumbai.
They saw a ball of fur in the middle of
the road.
“Who are you?” they asked.
“I am Furry, the cat,” said the cat.

दोनों दोस्त मुंबई जा रही धूल-भरी सड़क पर निकल
पड़े।
उन्होंने बीच सड़क के बीच में रोवें की एक बॉल
देखी। “तुम कौन हो?” उन्होंने पूछा। “मैं फरी नाम
की बिल्ली हूँ।” बिल्ली ने कहा।

Word-Meanings : Fur (फ़र) -short soft fine hair on animal body, जानवरों के शरीर के छोटे-छोटे मुलायम बाल रोवें। Middle (मिड्ल) -in the centre, बीच में।

6. “Would you like to come with us to
become a musician?” asked Goopu and
Doopu together.
Oh! I would love to come along, replied
Furry.
So off went the three together Mumbai
to become musicians

“क्या तुम संगीतकार बनने के लिए हमारे साथ आना।
पसंद करोगी?” गूपू तथा डुपू ने एक साथ कहा।”
“ओह! मैं तुम्हारे साथ आना पसंद करूंगी।” फरी ने
उत्तर दिया।
इस प्रकार से तीनों मिलकर संगीतकार बनने मुंबई की
तरफ चल पड़े।

7. Soon they met Cuck00, the cock.

बत्तियाँ जल रही थीं।

Word-Meanings : Band (बैंड) -a company of musicians संगीतकारों का समूह। Reached (रीच्ड) -come near, पहुँचे।

8. They were tired and hungry. They
peeped in through the window and saw
a table with delicious food. They decided
to sing to let the people inside know that
they were musicians. They sang. The
people inside thought that ghosts had
come to scare them. They an away as
fast as they could!
Goopu, Doopu and Furry went into the
house and ate the food, till they could
eat no more.

वे सभी थके हुए और भूखे थे। उन्होंने खिड़की के
अंदर झाँका और स्वादिष्ट व्यंजन मेज पर रखा देखा।
उन्होंने गाना गाने का निर्णय किया ताकि अंदर के
लोगों को यह पता चले कि वे संगीतकार हैं। उन्होंने
गाया। अंदर के लोगों को लगा कि भूत उन्हें डराने के
लिए आ गए हैं। वे जितनी तेजी से भाग सकते थे,
वहाँ से भागे। गुप, ड्रपू और फरी घर के अंदर गए
तथा भरपेट भोजन किया!

In what way are these musical instruments different from each other? Put them into three groups based on how they are played.

(i) This is the picture of a musical instrument called a Jaltarang.
यह जलतरंग नामक एक बाजे का चित्र है। अब तुम एक अपना जलतरंग बनाओ।

(iii) Pour water into the bowls. Keep the water at different levels.
(iv) Use two pencils and strike the rim of the bowls to make musical sounds.
