CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 10 and 12 | Check CBSE Pattern Major Changes for 2019-20

CBSE Exam Pattern 2019-20: CBSE has modified some changes in CBSE Class 10 & 12 Exam Pattern. Students who are appearing for cbse class 10 and 12 must be aware of the CBSE Exam Pattern. Gaining knowledge about CBSE 2019 Exam Pattern will help the students to understand the section-wise distribution of marks and marking scheme of the CBSE Board Examination.

In the year 2008 officials of CBSE have introduced Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) Exam Pattern and this CBSE pattern has been continued till now. During CBSE Board exams of 2019, the officials of CBSE Said “The internal assessment will be of 20 percent of the total marks and Science and Arts subjects will carry the same weight,” and recently CBSE has changed some more modifications in the exam pattern. CBSE Exam Pattern for Class 10 2019 has been changed and is discussed below.

CBSE New Exam Pattern – Major Changes

Before knowing about CBSE New Exam Pattern, let’s have an overview of changes in CBSE Exam Pattern:

  • Internal Assesment For All Subjects
  • Internal Choice In Question Paper
  • Objective Type Questions Added For All Subjects
  • 2 Level Mathematics for Class 10 only.

CBSE Class 12 Sample Papers

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 10 2020 Subject-wise

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 10 for each subject is as follows:

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 10 Maths

CBSE 2019 Exam Pattern Class 10 Maths 2018-2019 CBSE New Exam Pattern for 2019-2020 Maths
The question paper consists of 30 questions divided into four sections A, B, C & D.

i. Section A Consists of 6 questions of 1 mark each.
ii. Section B consists of 6 questions of 2 marks each.
iii. Section C consists of 10 questions of 3 marks each.
iv. Section D Consists of 8 questions of 4 marks each.

There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in two questions of 1 mark each, two questions of 2 marks each, four questions of 3 marks each and three questions of 4 marks each. You have to attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions

The question paper consists of 40 questions divided into four sections A, B, C & D.

i. Section A Consists of 20 questions of 1 mark each.
ii. Section B consists of 6 questions of 2 marks each.
iii. Section C consists of 8 questions of 3 marks each.
iv. Section D Consists of 6 questions of 4 marks each.

There is no overall choice. However internal choices have been provided in two questions of 1 mark each, two questions of 2 marks each, three questions of 3 marks each and three questions of 4 marks each. Candidates must attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

Apart from this board has introduced two levels in Mathematics exam for students of class 10 Standard and Basic Mathematics. The existing syllabus for Mathematics will be known as Standard Syllabus while the easier syllabus is known as Basic Mathematics. Students who fail to pass in the Mathematics exam can opt for Basic Mathematics exam as it will be easier than the Standard Mathematics. But students who choose Basic Mathematics will not be able to take Mathematics as their subject in higher studies.

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 10 Social Science

Social Science CBSE Exam Pattern 2018-2019 CBSE New Exam Pattern For 2019-2020 Social Science
i. Questions from serial number 1 to 7 are very short answer type questions. Each question carries one mark.

ii. Questions from serial number 8 to 18 are 3 marks questions. The answer to each of these questions should not exceed 80 words each.

iii. Questions from serial number 19 to 25 are 5 marks questions. The answer to these questions should not exceed 100 words each.

iv. Question number 26 is a map question of 5 marks with two parts -26 A from History (2 marks) and 26 B from Geography (3 marks). The question paper has 26 questions in all. All questions are compulsory.

i. Questions from serial number 1 to 20 are objective type questions. Each question carries one mark. Answer them as instructed.

ii. Questions from serial number 21 to 28 are 3 marks questions. The answer to each of these questions should not exceed 80 words.

iii. Questions from serial number 29 to 34 are 5 marks questions. The answer to these questions should not exceed 120 words each.

iv. Question number 35 is a map question of 6 marks with two parts 35 a. from History (2 marks) and 35 b. from Geography (4 marks). The question paper has 35 questions in all. Internal choice is given in each section.

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 10 Science

CBSE Exam Pattern 2018-2019 Science CBSE New Exam Pattern for 2019-2020 Science
i. Question numbers 1 and 2 (Section A) are one mark questions. They are to be answered in one word or in one sentence.

ii. Question numbers 3 to 5 (Section B) are two marks questions. These are to be answered in about 30 words each.

iii. Question numbers 6 to 15 (Section C) are three marks questions. These are to be answered in about 50 words each.

iv. Question numbers 16 to 21 (Section D) are 5 marks questions. These are to be answered in about 70 words each.

v. Question numbers 22 to 27 (Section E) are based on practical skills. Each question is of two marks. These are to be answered in brief.

Internal choice is given in sections B, C, D and E.

i. All questions in Section A are one-mark questions comprising MCQ, VSA type and assertion-reason type questions. They are to be answered in one word or in one sentence.

ii. All questions in Section B are three-mark, short-answer type questions. These are to be answered in about 50 – 60 words each.

iii. All questions in Section C are five-mark, long-answer type questions. These are to be answered in about 80 – 90 words each.
This question paper consists of a total of 30 questions. Internal choice is given in each section.

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 12 – What are Major Changes?

New Changes that are changed in CBSE Class 12 are as follows

  • 25% Objective Type Questions
  • 33% Internal Choices

With the introduction of 25% objective type questions MCQ’s, Fill in the blanks, Assertion-Reason in all subjects, by this students can easily score good marks. By changing this student can easily improve marks in exams and lessen the burden of writing a lengthy paper and this also helps students to dedicate their time to writing theory parts easily.

33% Internal Choices

In 2019 Board Exams CBSE has already introduced a number of internal choices. Along with this CBSE board has introduced 33% internal choices so now students have enough choices which, in turn, will help students score good marks.

According to CBSE New Exam Pattern, all subjects will have 20% Weightage given to internal Assesment. Internal Assesment process is as follows:

i. Section-A contains 5 questions of 1 mark each.

ii. Section-B has 7 questions of 2 marks each.

iii. Section-C is of 12 questions of 3 marks each

iv. Section-D has 3 questions of 5 marks each.

There is a total of 27 questions. Internal choice is given in all the sections. The student has to attempt only one of the alternatives in such questions.

i. Section A contains question numbers 1 to 5, multiple-choice questions of one mark each.

ii. Section B contains question numbers 6 to 12, short answer type I questions of two marks each.

iii. Section C contains question numbers 13 to 21, short answer type II questions of three marks each

iv. Section D contains question number 22 to 24, case-based short answer type questions of three marks each.

v. Section E contains question numbers 25 to 27, long answer type questions of five marks each.

There are a total of 27 questions and five sections in the question paper.  There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, internal choices are provided in two questions of one mark, one question of two marks, two questions of three marks and all three questions of five marks. An examinee is to attempt any one of the questions out of the two given in the question paper with the same question number.

CBSE New Exam Pattern for Class 12 Physics

There are 27 questions in all.
i. Section A contains five questions of one mark each.ii. Section B contains seven questions of two marks eachiii. Section C contains twelve questions of three marks eachiv. However, internal choices have been provided in two questions of one mark, two questions of two marks, four questions of three marks and three questions of five marks weightage.
There are 37 questions in all.
i. Section A contains twenty questions of one mark each.ii. Section B contains seven questions of two marks eachiii. Section C contains seven questions of three marks eachiv.
