What are Numbers?

Number Names
To represent numbers, number names are used.
Place value of a number
It refers to the position of the digit in a number.
Comparing Numbers
A number that is observed lesser or greater than the other is referred to as comparing numbers.
Symbols to use comparing numbers
Counting by 10s, 20s, 50s
For grouping the ten numbers together to form one unit of ten is referred to as count of tens.
For example, 10, 20, 30, 40 and so on.
For grouping the fifty numbers together to form one unit of ten is referred to as count of fifties.
For example, 50, 100, 150, 200 and so on.
Patterns
Patterns are the group of numbers that follows certain sequence. Many interesting patterns can be formed by numbers.
