The story is about the star being called as Chanda Mama by the writer. Every night Chanda Mama starts counting the stars in the sky and falls asleep and forgets the couhting when he wakes up the next evening. In the meantime, the Sun shines brightly in the sky. One night, on seeing Chanda Mama very upset and crying, the Sun decides to help him. He tells Chanda Mama that he can tell the number of stars in the sky and tells him that there are as many stars in the sky as the number of lovely children. This makes Chanda Mama happy and every night he would look at the stars and the children and smile happily.
