Environmental pollution has become a serious problem nowadays. With the advancement of civilization and industrial sectors, pollution has increased to a great extent. People are cutting trees for making brick, melting pitch, etc., for road construction. As a result, the air is being polluted. Again various motor vehicles, powerhouses, industries, etc., emit smoke and pollute the air. Water and soil are also polluted, Farmers use chemical fertilizers and insecticides in their fields.
They are ultimately getting mixed with water from various sources. Besides, water vehicles and insanitary hanging latrines on rivers are also polluting water seriously. I Connie or Mrs Macpherson was 101 years old. When the author took Jim’s letter to her m a nursing home, she became very excited. Her eyes lit up and she mistook the author for her husband. She kissed his cheek. She said that she had been reading his letter every day. But she wanted to hear his voice. She had also made a Christmas cake for him as he had promised to come home. She thought that he had come back home. She called his presence at home as the best Christmas present for her in the world.
(b) What is the lesson given by the poem to the mankind?
Answer:
Through the poem the lesson what has been delivered to the mankind is that we should lead happy moments but not by ignoring our future. Careful planning is essential for everyone and it ensures a secure future. And by the help of this poem one should always be on the path of hard work and don’t opt for shortcut way as shortcuts never leads a person towards success. On the other hand, hard work makes a person stronger and help in enhancing his/ her capabilities. Again, the ant has taught a very god lesson to the cricket.

The Three (the Dog, the Horse and the Ox) were hard working animals. They do different works for men. The Dog carried heavy loads, the Horse drew carts and the Ox ploughed the field. These three were fed up with the Camel because he didn’t do any work. So one day they complained to Man about the Camel’s laziness. At this the Man became angry. He told the three to leave the Camel alone and work double time to compensate his (Camel’s) work. That made the three very angry. They held a panchayat but it proved in vain. The camel came chewing and laughed at them.
